| Hoping to revive their sagging stage careers, a divorced couple appear in a play about Charles II and Nell Gwynn. But Nell's ghost haunts the theatre. Offended by the play’s spin, she revives her merry monarch to kill the production. They try to close things down by spooking both the actors and the crowd; they don’t count on the players' resolve to go on with the show. The spirits then change tactics. They show up in the guise of psychics and Charles turns on megawatts of charm. When these pairs intersect emotions are masked by stiletto sharp egos that demand conflict. Here love isn’t about numbing your soul mate with sweetness; it gains from verbal smacks and tastes like cake iced with poison. |
